Do you remember where you were and what you were doing during the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks? This tragic and shattering event happened more than a decade ago; however, it does not seem that long, does it?

I was serving in the active duty Air Force at the time of the attacks, stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. My shift didn’t begin until later in the afternoon, so I was not awake at the time of the attacks. I shot bolt upright in my bed…someone was banging very loudly on my door. I rushed out to the day room, moments after the second plane hit. Immediate shock–it was surreal.

In honor of all of those who lost their lives, and to those who gave tireless hours and energy to bring aid to the victims, we will be doing a hero WOD. Hero WODs are bittersweet. Bitter, for obvious reasons, but sweet for the remembrance and celebration of our nation’s true heroes. The workout of the day, for September 11th, is:
