If you’re reading this, then you’re most likely interested in becoming a great Olympic Weightlifter. But, how do you it? Here, I’m going to show you. We’ll talk about a few things that will put you on the path to success — now, it’s up to you to execute!

Attend Class. Simple, but true. Not only will you find Olympic Weightlifting in our daily CrossFit workouts, but you’ll also find dedicated classes every Tuesday night at 7:30 pm and every Saturday morning at 8:00 am. Just like we mentioned during your very first intro class…consistency is key. If you haven’t attended one of our Olympic Weightlifting classes, mark your calendar NOW, and plan on attending at least one class next week. We take you through the skills and drills of the lifts during our regular classes; however, you will receive a lot more of that during the weightlifting classes.

Focus on the skills and drills. We don’t do the “Burgener Warm-Up and skill transfer exercises just because they’re fun (but they are, aren’t they?). We do them because it will help us MOVE BETTER and more EFFICIENTLY. We’ll begin to understand the different terms and language…we’ll begin to understand the “why” behind the different positions of the lifts, and how to execute them properly. Next time you’re in class, and we’re working on the skills and drills, I want you to FOCUS. And I mean really focus. Do them for a reason…do them with purpose! Who knows…if you make a serious effort to practice the skills and drills, within a month or so, you may bang out some new personal records! Perhaps you’ll be ready to test yourself in competition.

Compete. Yep, that’s it…compete. There’s no better way to test yourself, and to see if your hard work has been paying off, than to compete. Yes, it’s scary. Yes, it may be your first time. But, I’d venture to guess that you’d probably surprise yourself with how well you may do.

Three keys to becoming a great Olympic Weightlifter: attend class, focus on the skills and drills, and sign up for a competition when you’re ready. Do all three, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly your numbers go up!
