Talk about commitment! Morning classes, evening classes, weekdays, and weekends — Bre is there! From Day 1, BreAnne has embraced her new journey of health and fitness 100%! She is an inspiration to our new members, as well as our members that have been with us from the start. Not only does BreAnne consistently attend the WODs, she also participates in almost every Big Horn CrossFit event, whether it’s a simple BBQ, volunteering, competing, or showing her support for others. And for those of you who don’t know her yet, here’s a little bit about her…
Occupation: Middle school history teacher
When did you start CrossFitting? January 2014
When did you first start training at Big Horn CrossFit? January 2014
Favorite WOD (workout): Anything with wall balls or box jumps
Least favorite WOD (workout): Running. This usually happens on Saturday 9am WODs when coach Jess or coach Kane decide to make us run. Running=love/hate
Tell us about your sports and fitness background: I was a competitive dancer, gymnast and cheerleader for all of my school years.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? The gym teacher at my work was talking about it and how awesome it was. Figured I would give it a try. I kind of just wanted to prove that I could do it and then I got hooked.
Take us back to your first WOD (workout): I honestly don’t remember. I think it had front squats in it. I really wish I had written this stuff down like coach Brian said to. I just remember being really sore the next day. Like really sore.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body? Well, I have seen a big difference in my body weight. Since January, I have lost almost 30 pounds. I have been really happy to see my muscle tone come back, like it was when I was in grade school.
What sort of changes have you seen in your life? I am way more active. I used to go home and watch tv after work but now I am always going going going. I have been able to do a lot more like the Spartan Race. Things that I would have never been able to do before I joined Big Horn.
Favorite Big Horn CrossFit moments: I love hero WODs. I really like the WOD like we had on Memorial Day. Not only did we kick our butts with “Murph” but we had a great time as a community just hanging out.
Advice for people getting started? Write everything down! It’s awesome to keep track of your progress and accomplishments. Oh, and the foam roller is your friend. I hated that thing when I first started but it helps a lot.
Hobbies, interests outside of CrossFit? Outside of Crossfit I spend a lot of time with my students in after school programs, I read a few books a week, I spend a lot of time just hanging out with my dogs and parents.
